How It Works
LearnersWhen learners call, we invite them in for a no-stress diagnostic assessment. This gives us a benchmark for where tutoring will begin.
All learners bring to the table their unique needs and dreams. Our job is to meet learners at that point and provide resources by matching them with a trained tutor--absolutely free of charge. TutorsCall us. We're glad to answer whatever questions you have. If vounteering a few hours a month to make a big difference in someone's life appeals to you, we'll sign you up for our next training workshop. After training, we carefully match you with a waiting learner.
Take a look at the list to your right, "Cool Things to Read." If you enjoy reading, help someone who can't. The time you give opens up a whole new world for your learner--how cool is that? Then what happens? You and your learner decide where to meet, how often, and how long each tutoring session will be. Tutors and learners meet at the HLP offices, at the library, in coffee shops--any place that is workable for both parties and conducive to learning. Study is based entirely on the individual needs of the learner. That's the beauty of one-on-one tutoring! |
